I notice that it is more apparent when I am tired - and usually being tired means I've been out late, and usually watching a group, which means a major influx of cigarette smoke. So is it the lack of sleep? or the cigarette smoke allergies. (yes - backspace is a great help here!) For illogical - I can keep right and left straight with no problems. Or if there is any thought about which one is which it is so slight and ingrained that it happens as easily as noticing the spelling errors. BUT - East, west, North and South are never going to be kept straight in my head. Where I'm >from - SF Peninsula, between the Bay and the Ocean, I just say 'turn to the Bay' or 'Turn to the ocean'. People who think they're being helpful, including my parents, seem to think that an exasperated sounding 'But just THINK where the SUN is' is going to help...I really couldn't tell you which way the sun moves without looking it up. Don't tell me - I don't really care. I know that the East Coast is 3 hours ahead of me - 2pm here is time to say goodnight to East Coast e-mail friends at work. So - you're not alone...it's not a consistent, obvious problem for most of us. I would have never realized that I was more than mathematically stupid if I hadn't decided to take Gregg Shorthand. Diana
