Hmmm..there seems to be a problem with the list. I'll look into it. Until then, send postings directly to me.] Return-Path: Date: Thu, 11 Apr 91 11:13:21 MDT From: Emilie Young Subject: Candida skin infection (Could you post this for me?) I've just joined this mailing list and I'd like to hear about other peoples experiences with candida. About 4 years ago I noticed a strange rash on my face and upper body. It looked almost like a break out of whiteheads but it definately wasn't. I didn't think much about it until I went on antibiotics that Fall for Strep throat. It went CRAZY.I was covered from hairline to waist. I went to a dermatologist. He took a sample and reported back that I had a yeast infection of the skin but not to worry about it. So for the past 4 years I've had this chronic yeast infection of the skin. It tends to gets worse in warm weather, when I eat sugar or drink alcohol, and especially when I take antibiotics. I try to watch my diet but it never goes away. By the way, I became a lacto-ovo vegetarian about 6.5 years ago - could that be a link? I can't think of anything in my diet or environment that changed when I first noticed the infection. My doctor seems to think it's nothing to worry about but I'm concerned. It can't be good to have a running infection for four years. I don't THINK I have any other symptoms. It's hard to tell for sure if I've been sick more or not. Does anyone have any experience with this type of yeast infection? Should I be concerned? I've been considering consulting a less traditional healer. Does anyone have any experience with acupuncture, etc.? Thanks, Emilie young@uswest.com
