Several of you have complained to me lately that your messages are bouncing to immune (though immune-request seems to work fine). I don't know what's up (even my mail spool has been having problems--it keeps disapearing!). My system administrator is looking into it (I assume) but it's clear this is hardly on the top of his "to do" list. I think it would be helpful if those of you who got bounced messages forward them to me so I can compile a file for my sys ad. In the meantime, I guess we'll have to go back to our old system of posting by sending messages to me with a *clear* request to post to the entire group. I don't mind, though I might fall a day behind now and then. And the other end? Then there's stress. Anybody have some good methods for dealing with it? My blood sugar goes down, my dyslexia/dysgraphia goes up (thank god for the backspace key!!!), my temper gets shorter. It's a vicious cycle. I don't have time or patience for shopping or cooking so I don't eat well, which lowers my blood sugar (hypoglyemia), which raises my stress level. I'm a first-year grad student in the middle of my last quarter, taking 3 classes, teaching, have one more term paper from last quarter to write, and am preparing for 12 hours of greuling first-year exams that determine if I will stay in the department or not. I find that controlling my diet doesn't relieve the stress but it does keep it from getting out-of-control. I need frequent, consistant protein. Fortunately, money isn't an issue now so I can comprimise by buying mostly prepared food so I don't have to shop, cook, or clean up (it's either have money or get a wife :-) My hyperventalation has been a terrible problem lately--I had an attack a week ago and now I get horribly ill everytime I so much as pass a cigarette. My lung capacity is bad too, so I get to huff and puff after holding my breath to pass the smokers. I find physical contact helpful too (the old four-hugs-a-day treatment). At least I have cats :-) Taking time to relax is not really an option. I spend some time in my garden or playing with the neighborhood kids (physcial activity helps) but I really have too too much work to do. I won't get a day off until after my exams in mid-June. I have always found stress to be a problem. My immune system just don't work right. And, unlike what the "medical experts" think, I don't believe we can separate mind and body. Stress, allergies, environmental exposure, diet, pschological well-being, affection, medical "conditions," etc, all intertwine. Comments? Advice? Moral support? Cyndi
