[Disclaimer #1: They may not help anyone else.] [Disclaimer #2: I'm not a doctor.] 1. Magnesium: Recent studies tout the calming properties and the benefits in treatment of hypertension. A bonus for some is that it tends to have a laxative effect. Dose: 500mg twice or three times a day. 2. Taurine: An amino acid, calms the neurvous system. Dose: 500mg, one or more times a day, as needed. 3. B Vitamins: Well known link with stress. A critical one in this family is B6 in the form of Pyridoxal-5-phosphate. This is essential in absorbing protein and amino acids. Dose: A good B multiple, plus 20mg B6 P5p twice a day. 4. Niacin: Calming, antidepressive, and can reduce cholesterol. Up to 1000mg per day in divided doses or time release. 5. Vitamin C: So much has been written about this. I take a gram a day. 6. Tryptophan: Really works, if you can get it. The government is dragging its feet on lifting the ban, though tests are conclusive that the problem was contamination. 500mg at bedtime. P.S. Several manufacturers (eg. Twinlab) bind these carefully with allergic people in mind. Good luck and take care... Mark Bitter
