Kim mentioned being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, I have been too. I'd like to see some discussion on this, it's really been cramping my life and I'd like some real life hints on coping. I've gotten over my shyness at just sitting down - where ever I happen to be when I get too tired or suddenly am in severe pain. I have bar stools all over my apartment so I can do everything (cooking, ironing, etc.) sitting down. I take Clinoril and Elavil, with Vicodin for pain attacks. I've been trying to ride a statioary bike (I used to be an avid biker) but going just a few miles nearly kills me! Does anybody have any exercises that have helped, or other techniques (hot baths, ???) Between the inactivity and medication, I keep gaining weight and I'd like to lose some, but since my two favourite exercises, biking and dancing, are out, I'm not sure what to do. I'm also a little concerned about misdiagnosis. I tested positive for Lupus but another test was negative. Since then I seem to hear about Lupus all over, and discovered two second cousins have it. My doctor doesn't think it's Lupus, I keep wanting to discuss this further with him (and know I should), but by the time I poked, prodded, had my blood drained, and all the other fun things I get to do during visits, I just want to go home and to bed! So I thought maybe hearing about others problems and suggestions would help. My symptoms are pretty much like Kim mentioned, but less severe. I usually can walk about a street lenghth - though somedays walking from my bed to the bathroom is almost impossible, I can get through shopping in small amounts when I go early in the morning when I'm almost the only one there. I have pain and numbness mostly in my legs and feet (especially the soles and heels), but sometimes my arms have the same problem. Some days I just feel exhausted even when I haven't done anything. I also have problems concentrating and generally feel warm, even in fairly low temperatures. Marguerite
